Y Combinator's Winter 2027 batch is a world-renowned 3-month accelerator running January–March 2027 in San Francisco, open to early-stage startups from any country including all African nations. Selected companies receive $500,000 in funding ($125,000 for 7% equity via post-money SAFE plus $375,000 on an uncapped MFN SAFE), weekly partner meetings, and culminate in a Demo Day connecting founders to a global investor network. African founders have historically used YC as a springboard to raise significant follow-on capital and access decade-worth of networks in a single batch.

YC reviews applications on a rolling basis. Promising applications are invited to a video interview, usually held in November or December. Decisions are typically made on the same day as your interview, with feedback provided to all candidates who reach this stage. Once accepted, companies receive their $500,000 investment immediately—YC does not wait for the batch to begin in January.
What reviewers look for
₦500,000 total: ₦125,000 in exchange for 7% equity (via a post-money SAFE) plus ₦375,000 on an uncapped MFN SAFE. You also get access to ₦12M+ in free credits and discounts from partners (OpenAI, AWS, Google Cloud, Stripe, etc.), weekly meetings with a YC General Partner, and investor introductions.
If you submit before 2 November 2026 at 8pm PT, you will receive a decision by 11 December. If you apply after the deadline, YC will still review your application but cannot promise a timeline.
No. You can be based anywhere in the world, including outside Africa. However, you must be able to relocate to San Francisco for the full batch (January–March 2027), which is in-person and required.
Yes. YC accepts idea-stage startups, pre-revenue companies, and revenue-generating companies. What matters is your team's ability to execute and the size of the market opportunity.
The batch culminates in Demo Day, where you pitch to YC's investor network. YC continues to support founders beyond the 3 months, and the YC alumni community (over 4,000 founders globally) provides ongoing mentorship and connections for years after graduation.
