Updated September 30, 2026 · 1 min read

Kenya

  • Government funds — the Youth Enterprise Development Fund and the Women Enterprise Fund lend to youth- and women-owned businesses and groups at low interest; county governments run their own revolving funds.
  • Development grants — USAID Feed the Future agribusiness investment, IFAD rural programmes, AGRA grants for agricultural transformation.
  • Investors & accelerators — Nairobi is East Africa’s venture hub: TLcom, Norrsken22, Techstars cohorts and many angel groups.

See the live list on the Kenya funding page.

Ghana

  • Development grants — GIZ private-sector development windows, SNV inclusive business and agri-SME grants, IFAD programmes.
  • Impact investment — Oikocredit and other impact funds for agriculture, renewable energy and financial inclusion.
  • Government & agency support — national entrepreneurship and innovation programmes with periodic grant windows.

See the live list on the Ghana funding page.

What both countries’ funders want

Registration with the national registrar, a business bank account, a tax identification number, and a plan with local-currency financials. Agriculture, women-led and climate businesses have the most options. Prepare once with the GrantPilot generator and Readiness Score, then apply to several programmes with the same core pack.
