BOI assesses applications based on your business registration, location in a rural area, loan purpose, and ability to repay. Processing typically takes 2–4 weeks, though this varies. You will be notified of approval or rejection, and if approved, invited to sign the loan agreement and commence repayment terms.
What reviewers look for
Collateral requirements depend on the loan amount and your risk profile. BOI typically requires collateral or guarantees for larger amounts; smaller loans may proceed on personal guarantee or group backing. Ask your loan officer for your specific case.
The rate is 5% per annum under this programme, which is significantly below commercial bank rates.
Repayment tenor is up to 3 years, depending on the size of your loan and your cash flow. This is negotiated during loan approval.
The loan must be used for business purposes—stock, equipment, expansion, working capital etc. It cannot be used for personal expenses or to repay other debts.
BOI maintains a list of eligible local government areas and communities. Contact your nearest BOI branch with your location details and they will confirm eligibility.
