KCIC reviews applications against innovation, commercial potential, and team capability. Selected founders enter structured cohorts that receive mentorship, business development support, and staged grant releases. The exact timeline from submission to decision is not published; KCIC operates on rolling admissions, so applications are reviewed as they arrive rather than in batch rounds.
What reviewers look for
Solutions that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, build climate resilience, or improve resource efficiency in energy, agriculture, water, or related technology sectors. KCIC's sectors are: Clean Energy, Agriculture, Water & Sanitation, and Technology. Discuss your specific fit with KCIC before applying if you are unsure.
The sources do not exclude prior funding. Contact KCIC directly to clarify whether receiving other grants affects your eligibility or grant amount.
KCIC runs rolling admissions with no published deadline. You can apply at any time, but it is wise to submit early in each cohort cycle. Check the KCIC website for cohort start dates.
Grants range from KES 500,000 to KES 10,000,000. The amount depends on your business stage, the solution's maturity, and the cohort's budget. KCIC will confirm the specific amount if you are selected.
KCIC typically offers feedback to applicants. You may be invited to apply in the next cohort or referred to other KCIC programmes (such as the Cleantech Innovation Competition or DREEM HUB) that might suit your business better.
